Previously Youth Certified

Individuals who have been Youth Certified before we moved to the online application process in May 2022 are known as a CERTIFIED NEW USER . You will receive an automated email from our ONLINE PORTAL asking you to verify your email and ACTIVATE YOUR ONLINE ACCOUNT. Please check your junk/spam email folders in case they go to this mailbox. Once you have verified your email you will be able to access your online account. On your Dashboard you will be prompted to complete your personal information and have access to renew your certification when the time comes. If you have not received your activation email yet please contact us or access the online portal and request the portal to resend you an activation email.

First Time Applying

You must first Register as a new user and Activate your Online Portal Account.

From your Online Account you will be able to Apply.

Documents Required to be uploaded for your application include:

  • Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Background Check (valid within 3 months of application)
  • Copy of your Fingerprints (if applicable)
  • Respect in School or Respect in Sport Certificate
  • 2 Pieces of Government issue ID (1 photo)
  • 1 Photograph to be used for Public Directory Identification (2.5×2.5 recommended)

Annual Declaration

To maintain your Safe Places certification status and appear in the public directory, you must complete an annual declaration available through your online account.

Public directory

Once your application has been approved, you will appear in the Public Directory.

You must first Register as a new user and Activate your Online Portal Account.

From your Online Account you will be able to Apply.

Recertification

If you have previously been Safe Places – Youth Certified but have not yet set up an ONLINE PORTAL ACCOUNT – you are considered a CERTIFIED NEW USER and must follow instructions to ACTIVATE YOUR ONLINE PORTAL ACCOUNT first

You must login to your Online Portal Account

From your Online Account Dashboard you will see the option to Reapply. A step by Step Guide is available here

Documents Required to be uploaded for your recertification application include:

  • New Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Background Check
  • New Respect in School or Respect in Sport Certificate -( link to recertification for respect group landing page )
  • 2 Pieces of Government issue ID (1 photo)
  • 1 Photograph to be used for Public Directory Identification (2.5×2.5 recommended)

Annual Declaration

To maintain your Safe Places certification status and appear in the public directory, you must complete an annual declaration available through your online account.

Recertification

You will be required to recertify and complete all steps again after 4 years.

Public directory

Once your application has been approved, you will appear in the Public Directory.
